Stuck WU states (0x8024 errors) sometimes need reset script—use cautiously.
When
Repeated install failures after disk space and corruption ruled out.
Steps (conceptual)
Stop bits/wuauserv; rename SoftwareDistribution per Microsoft KB; rescan—never improvise paths.
Safety
Snapshot or restore point where available; notify user about long rescan.
Rate limit
Do not mass-blast simultaneously—stagger by site to avoid WSUS meltdown.
